National Safe Boating Week Begins<br />

As the ice comes off more Minnesota lakes, safety officials are highlighting Saturday's start to National Safe Boating Week.
    
The St. Paul District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says the best thing a person can do to stay safe on the water is to wear a life vest or personal flotation device.
    

Health Officials: Hepatitis C Test Needed for MN Baby Boomers

Attention baby boomers - have you been tested for hepatitis C lately?

The Minnesota Department of Health is reminding people born from 1945 through 1965 to be tested for hepatitis C. The reminder comes for national hepatitis awareness month.

Currently, about 39,000 people statewide are living with the virus.

Hennepin Co. Voting to Align Benefits With Freedom to Marry Bill

The Hennepin County Board of commissioners will vote to direct staff to align its policies, procedures, and employee benefit coverage to match the Freedom to Marry Bill on Tuesday.

On August 1, Hennepin County staff will be prepared to both process marriage applications for LGBT couples and extend benefit coverage to any married county employee.

Movie Afternoon at Target Field on Sunday

Fans attending Sunday's Minnesota Twins matinee at Target Field in Downtown Minneapolis are getting a bonus after the game.  The Twins play the Boston Red Sox at 1:10pm on May 19th.  After the game, the movie "The Sandlot" will play on the HD jumbotron for fans to enjoy.

Historic Mayoral Debate Set in Mpls

The first Somali-American Community’s Minneapolis Mayoral Candidates Forum will be held later this month.

This historic event is the first of its kind to be held in Minneapolis, according to organizers.

On May 31, at 6:00 p.m. five candidates in the race have agreed to the debate at Safari Restaurant and Event Center.

Half Marathon on 4th of July in NE Minneapolis

How about spending the 4th of July holiday running a half marathon?  You can get up early and run the Red, White and Boom Twin Cities Half Marathon.

The races starts and ends at Father Hennepin Park right near the Stone Arch Bridge in Northeast Minneapolis.   The course goes primarily through Northeast Minneapolis.

Minn. Students to Square Off in Robotics Tourney

Teams from across Minnesota will put their robots through the paces Saturday at the Minnesota State High School League's second annual State Robotics Tournament.
